Mr. Jia was in New York in with another film about contemporary life in China, “A Touch of Sin.” But the new picture looks more closely at how relationships affect lives over time. In an interview during the festival, he spoke through an interpreter about his work. Q. What is your best memory of the festival? A. I do know that what has impressed me the most is that it is very simple: It’s all about the films. So I like this very film-centric festival. What film would you be most interested in seeing at the festival?问:这次电影节上你最感兴趣的片子是什么?I won’t have time to see other films. But if I were here more than two days, I would want to see Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s “Cemetery of Splendour.” But hopefully I’ll get to see the film at another festival. What was the most challenging moment in your shoot? In one scene, the father of the female character Tao passes away unexpectedly in a different town. She receives the news and makes her way there. I at first asked [the actress and Mr. Jia’s wife] Zhao Tao to be very calm and composed. Because to me, that’s how you’re able to take care of all the funeral decisions. But when we were shooting, she didn’t really get into the character. She told me she didn’t feel quite right about the way I wrote the character in that scene. To her, as a Chinese female character having such an intimate relationship with her father, she thought the emotions should be very externalized: to cry and express emotions viscerally. It’s a completely different female perspective on how to deal with someone’s passing, and different from how I would deal with it. I went through a lot of internal struggles with the scene. And I realized it had a lot to do with the way I see, not only from a male’s perspective, but from the Eastern aesthetic. I decided eventually to go the actual human reactions rather than the Eastern film aesthetic. I changed my direction and had Zhao Tao’s character be a lot more expressive in her grief. What was your primary motivation making the film?问:你拍这部影片最初的动机是什么?I wanted to investigate human emotions on many different levels within many different relationships. I wanted to think about them like blood in your bloodstream. In your daily life, you don’t feel it flowing in your veins, but when certain situations happen, you will feel a certain influx or outgoing of the blood to your face or certain parts of your body. I wanted to always go back to how you react in certain situations dealing with love, loss and death. How has the film been received in China? The film will be released in theaters in China on Oct. 30. But it was shown in the Shanghai Film Festival in June. After that screening, we got a lot of feedback and reactions. Many loved the film, but at the same time there were people who really felt uncomtable with what they saw being portrayed. The discomt they experienced was that, even though the film is very much about the development and growth of the economy in China and how we are better off financially and economically speaking, you do still see poverty and what it’s like to still be living in an impoverished environment. So I think that part is problematic some people, who think we should just look at the bright side and not at the underbelly of society. But as a filmmaker, no matter what country you’re in, you cannot somehow get those people — it’s our duty to capture them with our cameras, and document their lives as well. 3I remember the first time I ever heard the term “Korean Wave”. It was in the late 1990s, and I was a teenager. Back then, pioneer boy bands and girl groups such as H.O.T., NRG and Baby V.O.X. had totally changed my understanding of pop music. Now, almost years later, the invasion of South Korean pop music is ongoing. The latest evidence is Saturday’s M Korean Music Wave, a concert held the very first time in China (at the National Stadium in Beijing), where some of the biggest names in the South Korean music industry permed, including EXO, INFINITE, Girls’ Generation, T-ARA and PM. In addition to taking off in Asia in a big and enduring way, K-pop (short Korean pop music) is also conquering the world, finding popularity in the US, music’s biggest market. On Aug 5, Billboard officially launched the new K-pop music chart, ranking the best-selling South Korean songs both in the US and the home country. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of K-pop itself — the catchy and calculating strain of music that somehow manages to simultaneously sound like every contemporary musical genre, mostly electronic dance music, arranged in conventional pop song structures. But if you see K-pop as a culture, things get more interesting. First, the process of creating a K-pop singer, mostly through ming boygirl groups, is like car production: Industrialize and focus on exports. Talent agencies find potential singers, often through global auditions. The training of the future stars, who are taught to sing and dance, act and learn eign languages, can take three to seven years. In the South Korean model, a pop group is more like a brand than a proper band. instance, SM Entertainment’s Super Junior boasts members. This allows the company to break the band down into sub-s targeting different markets, including Super Junior-M (Mandarin pop music), Super Junior-T (trot music, a m of Korean music dating back to the early 1900s), and something called Super Junior-Happy. Super Junior-HappyThe pace of the K-pop music production is quick. You get one song that can last a week, and that’s it. The record labels always want something new out of artists, in order to sell more music, as well as draw more fans. So it makes sense why South Korean singers are under huge amounts of pressure.K-pop的更新速度很快,一首歌也许只流行一个星期为了卖出更多的专辑、圈更多的粉丝,唱片公司总希望艺人不断有新作推出所以也就不难理解,韩国歌手为什么会压力巨大了But meanwhile, there is good news K-pop fans. If you’re a K-pop fan, you’re really getting involved in a commy of people. They all like the same band as you, you all get to know the same thing, and it becomes a family. So maybe that’s why everyone’s so passionate. You feel the dedication of those South Korean artists who are taught to fight in life, and understand that dreams are attainable. Then you get music that makes you dance and smile. What else is needed? It seems that K-pop’s ability to dazzle is in no danger of diminishing just yet.

蚌埠东方美莱坞医院-整形美容中心怎么样凤阳市去额头上的皱纹价格 “You know what I’m going to devote the rest of my life to?” David Letterman said on his last night as the host of the “Late Show” on CBS. Mr. Letterman ended his 33-year career in late-night on Wednesday as he had started it — with the irreverence, self-mockery and mischief that made him such an iconoclastic talk-show host. His farewell was much better than the usual mawkish television send-off: He mixed favorite segments like his Top list with clips of classic skits and a few restrained fillips of sincerity and humility. His final show was not at all like the Pharaonic and mushy last bow Johnny Carson took when he left “The Tonight Show” in 199. As could be expected, it was a bracing antidote to the weepy extravaganza that ushered his rival Jay Leno into retirement last year. Mr. Letterman’s retirement has gotten an extraordinary amount of focus — a frenzied outpouring of fan devotion, celebrity tributes and nonstop media attention — perhaps because he was so important to the last generation of viewers who grew up watching shows on a television set, and not on a smartphone. Mr. Letterman’s crack about younger permers who use Twitter and Facebook was a shout-out to the talk-show host’s core audience, the late-night viewers who decades ago defined themselves as the insurgents who preferred Mr. Letterman to Mr. Leno. All Mr. Letterman had to say was the date, June , 1996, and the studio audience began laughing appreciatively. He then showed a clip of one of his more famous pranks when he posed as a server at a drive-through Taco Bell and tormented customers with terrible service. The clips of his absurdist gags, riffs on conventional television comedy, were fun, but they were also a reminder of how inventive and seditious Mr. Letterman was in his heyday, and how much his successors in today’s late-night constellation owe him. One acolyte, Jimmy Kimmel, the host of his own late-night talk show on A, was so worshipful he ran a rerun on Wednesday so as to not pull focus from Mr. Letterman. On his show, Mr. Letterman demanded a lighter touch. In the Top list, “Things I’ve Always Wanted to Say to Dave,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a “Seinfeld” alumna, said, “Thanks letting me take part in another hugely disappointing series finale.” Mr. Letterman joined CBS in 1993, a year after HBO introduced “The Larry Sanders Show,” a behind-the-scenes parody of “The Tonight Show” that starred Garry Shandling as an insecure, self-absorbed talk-show host. But Mr. Letterman’s onstage persona, as host of “Late Night” at N, and later at CBS, was a one-man sendup of the talk-show genre. Even after more than 30 years, Mr. Letterman never lost his arch, ironic self-awareness; he did not sink into the easy, quid pro quo conventions of late-night talk shows, but kept defying them. Over the last few weeks, a parade of celebrity guests including Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and George Clooney have paid their respects to Mr. Letterman. On Wednesday, he described all the encomiums as “over-the-top” and said he found it “flattering, embarrassing and gratifying.” Mixed feelings make sense in a comedian who was always paradoxical — a winning, witty and supremely confident permer who offstage was practically a hermit and riven by self-doubt. Fans are devoted to Mr. Letterman in part because they know his psyche so well: He is an intensely private celebrity who kept processing his personal life in front of the camera. He helped the nation heal after the Sept. , 01, attacks by movingly expressing his feelings of sadness and helplessness. He brought his medical team onto his show after his 00 quintuple bypass, and he even described his affairs with women in his office as “creepy” in an unnerving mea culpa in . On Wednesday, Mr. Letterman said that one of the worst things about retiring was that, as he put it: “When I screw up now, and Lord knows I’ll be screwing up, I have to go on somebody else’s show to apologize.” He mixed jokes about his future with serious references to pivotal moments in his past. He chose as his last musical guests the Foo Fighters because the band canceled a tour in South America to play on his first show after the heart surgery. As he has on many a night, Mr. Letterman made a humorous reference to his son, Harry, imitating his voice in a squeaky falsetto. He also paid a solemn, quite personal tribute to his son and his wife, Regina, who were seated in the audience. “I love you both and really, nothing else matters, does it?”“谢谢你们,我的家人,”他说“我爱你俩,真的,再没有比你们重要的了,不是吗?”Mostly, though, he did what he did best: make fun of himself. “It’s beginning to look like I’m not going to get the ‘Tonight Show,’ ” Mr. Letterman joked. Mr. Letterman defined himself as the loser in his long, bitter battle with Mr. Leno. His rival got “The Tonight Show” gig and higher ratings, but in the end, Mr. Letterman won the legacy.

The emotional connection I feel towards my children brings boundless elation and joy as well as the inevitable worry and concern. They are a wonder to me every day. From a teenage son through to a toddler daughter, each moment of every day is filled with different energies, activities, feelings and a lot of comedy. From playing sport to lounging on the sofa, each of my children fill every second with laughter, music and discussion. They are kind hearted and well-mannered and have incredibly enquiring minds, and I feel incredibly blessed to be surrounded by these phenomenal human beings. Being in a position where they live such a privileged life, it is important that our children understand humility, that they appreciate how their parents have worked very hard to create this life the family and that they, too, have a responsibility to work hard, be respectful and never, ever take anything granted. My mother and father always encouraged me and my siblings, to have ambitions, and I hope that I can do the same with my children. I hope that I, together with their father, inspire them to dream big and be the best version of themselves that they can be. Like so many working mothers all over the world, I feel the constant struggle to be the best mother I can, whilst setting a good example to my children to work hard. I travel work when it necessary, and I miss them all the time when I am away. But they hide notes in my suitcase, which I love to find when unpacking, and I always bring photographs of all the family and put them by my bed so they are the first thing I see when I wake up and the last thing I see when I go to sleep. I love to hear their voices on the phone and seeing their faces—thank goodness FaceTime. That sense of feeling connected makes being apart that little bit easier. I have always been a great believer that women should support women, and my admiration goes out to mothers everywhere, as they constantly put their own needs behind those of their children, embracing daily uncertainties and entering the new uncharted territories that each day brings, to be, in return, rewarded with joy and unending love.
